What Is the EAV42279-00?

The Schneider EAV42279-00 is a DC-link filter capacitor board for Altivar ATV330/340/610/630 drives in the 30–45 kW range. It carries 10 × 1000 µF / 400 V electrolytic capacitors, 4 terminal points, and 2 resistors, forming the bus energy buffer that smooths DC voltage and suppresses ripple.

It is a power-stage passive component, not a control board or I/O board. Supplied as Tested replacement stock.

The capacitor board becomes the replacement target when bus-level symptoms persist after external causes have been reviewed:

• dCrE (DC Bus Ripple Error) — persistent ripple on the DC bus, or the drive explicitly reports damaged bus capacitors. Check the input filter and supply quality first.
• CrF (Pre-charge Fault) after storage — the drive has been unpowered for an extended period, capacitor reforming has been attempted per Schneider’s procedure, and the fault or abnormal power-up behaviour persists.
• Visible capacitor degradation — bulging, leakage, or discoloration on the electrolytic capacitors during inspection.
• Bus voltage instability — measured DC bus voltage shows abnormal fluctuation or fails to hold stable under light load, with supply and wiring verified normal.

FAQ

Does dCrE always mean the capacitor board needs replacement?

No. dCrE indicates DC bus ripple. The input filter, supply quality, and load conditions can also produce ripple. Check these first; replace the board when capacitor degradation is visually or electrically confirmed.

Can I reform the capacitors instead of replacing the board?

Yes, for drives stored unpowered for an extended period, Schneider specifies a capacitor reforming procedure before startup. If reforming fails to restore normal bus behaviour, board replacement becomes the next step.

Is EAV42279-00 a control board?

No. It is a passive DC-link capacitor board. It does not process control signals or drive firmware.
